Tacoma City Guide
Way back in 1999, who would have guessed that within just a few short years Tacoma would emerge as ‘The Place To Be’ in Washington? There’s such a buzz of activity that any tour of Tacoma is guaranteed to keep your head turning between new, modern museums and restored, historical architecture. Not that we’re boastful, but even a certain city that ends in "__eattle" can’t hold a candle to what’s going on here.

High points in our Renaissance include the Museum District—home to the Museum of Glass, Tacoma Art Museum, and Washington State History Museum.

At this new hub of downtown you can find beautiful glass art at Union Station, the University of Washington Tacoma, and on all 500 feet of the Chihuly Bridge of Glass—a pedestrian bridge linking the museums together. Just across the bridge you can wander along the Esplanade on the Thea Foss Waterway, yet another breathtaking spot for a romantic kiss at sunset. All that within three blocks of each other.
