The
Oregon Shakespeare
Festival is the world's oldest and largest theatre in rotating repertory.
Eleven plays are presented in each eight month season. Six Shapespeare plays
are performed, as well as five others by classic and comtemporary playwrights.
The plays rotate bewteen three theatres: the outdoor Elizabethan Stage,
the AngusBowmer Theatre and the New Theatre. In addition to the plays, visitors can sit in on lectures and talks with the actors. The festival also offers concerts, prefaces and backstage tours. Outside the festival, the city of Ashland contains nine other theatre groups performing comedy, musicals and experimental theatre. Skiing and various other outdoors activities are also available nearby, including Crater Lake and Oregon Caves. |
