Portland
Oregon City Guide
Portland combines all of the excitement of a big city with the charm
of a small town. Aptly named the "City of Roses," Portland contains
over 200 parks and gardens, including three magnificent public rose gardens.
Among Portland's many gardens are its world-famous Japanese Garden and the
Classical Chinese Garden. Visitors will also find Forest Park. At 4,600
acres, it is the largest urban park in the United States. Contrasting the
peace and quiet beauty of its gardens is Portland's nightlife. Portland
is at the center of America's craft brewed movement, and contains an enormous
selection brew pubs, each offering a unique atmosphere and flavor. In recent
years the city has also started attracting many world-class chefs. The majority
of ingredients come from just outside of the city. Visitors to Portland
can dine on fresh game, salmon and sturgeon and drink some of the best local
wines and micro-brewed beers in the world. |
