Minnesota Parks Travel Planner
Minnesota parks serve to commemorate the unique cultures that inhabited this region and their interactions. In the north, sites like Voyageurs and Grand Portage represent the French Canadian fur traders as well as several native tribes, such as the Ojibwe. Grand Portage was at one time a great hub of commerce bewteen settlers and native peoples.
Further south, Pipestone National Monument pays tribute to the Plains Indians and their crafts.
Vistiors can find a working stone quarry where stone for native american pipes was and still is quarried.
