Statue of Liberty Travel Planner
Located in New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty was a gift of international friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States and is one of the most universal symbols of political freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886 and was designated a National Monument on October 15, 1924. The Statue was extensively restored in time for her spectacular centennial on July 4, 1986. Access to the island is by ferry service only. The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island are open every day except December 25th. Our highest visitation occurs during the months of June through September. Visitation can be high during holiday and weekend periods throughout the year. The current schedule is from 9:00 AM until 5:15 PM with extended hours during the summer months. Access to facilities at both Liberty Island and Ellis Island can be limited prior to the final ferry departure. Please allow for ferry transportation time in your schedule.
