Bethlehem City Guide
Bethlehem is a unique combination of old and new. Almost every corner of the city exudes its own sense of history. Tall, straight buildings of factory-made steel, glass, and brick mingle with structures that illustrate the exacting patience necessary to connect hand-hewn logs and limestone block. Three centuries of time can be spanned by walking a mere two city blocks between Broad Street and Church Street.

Along the way, one can see the original facades of colonial, Victorian, and 20th century America, as an outstanding number of historically important buildings remain. Based on the teachings of John Hus, the Unitas Fratrum, more commonly known as the Moravian Church, was established in 1457 and renewed in 1722 on the estate of Count Ludwig von Zinzendorf in Saxony, where they built the town of Herrnhut. From here in 1732, they came as missionaries to the New World.

Now, Bethlehem is known as Christmas City USA because of its yearly holiday celebrations. Christkindlmarkt, a European-style holiday market, Nightlight tours of the city, candlelight walks, concerts and carriage rides make Christmas is Bethlehem a holiday spectacular that any visitor would love.

But Christmas isn't the only time to take in the beauty of Bethlehem. August welcomes America's largest music festival, Musikfest. September finds the anticipated Celtic Classic and highland Games. And don't miss the Historic Bethlehem walking tours and museums, the Banana Factory and shopping on Southside Bethlehem or Lehigh University. There's truly something for everyone - all year round - in Bethlehem, PA.

During your trip you may also want to stop in adjacent Nazareth, which is home to the Martin Guitar Company, the Nazareth Speedway and over 200 years of Moravian history.
