Allentown City Guide
Founded by William Allen in 1762, Allentown is most famous for its rich industrial history, beautiful parks and family attractions. But there's a lot that you don't know about Allentown.

During the Revolutionary War, the Liberty Bell was hidden from the British in an Allentown church, so it wouldn't be melted down for munitions (the Liberty Bell Shrine is still located at Zion's Reformed Church). Allentown is home to Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom, one of the most popular amusement parks in the northeast. Among dozens of fairs and festival throughout the year are the annual Mayfair Festival of the Arts and Great Allentown Fair. The Allentown Band, which will be celebrating its 175th Anniversary next year, is the oldest civilian band in America. Allentown is home to Mack Trucks® and boasts a Mack truck Museum and Assembly Plant.

With 240 years of history behind it, Allentown is looking toward the future. On the horizon is an ambitious Lehigh Landing project, featuring a river walk and America on Wheels Museum. Also, keep your eyes peeled for the new Arts Walk, connecting the Allentown Art Museum, Symphony Hall and Baum School of Art.

Just outside of Allentown is the Game Preserve, a number of covered bridges, a spectacular Wine Trail, a Velodrome and two caves.

The Lehigh Valley is located in eastern Pennsylvania within 90 miles of both New York City and Philadelphia. Composed of Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton and the surrounding areas, the region boasts more than 350 years of history, attractions, spectacular special events, delectable eateries, shopping opportunities and more. When visiting the Lehigh Valley you won’t want to miss: Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom, The Crayola FACTORY® at Two Rivers Landing, Holidays in Bethlehem, America’s largest music festival - Musikfest, the Game Preserve, caves, Nazareth Speedway, professional cycling, whitewater rafting, hiking, biking and anything else you desire.
